Born in Sheffield, UK. Simon is a Singer/multi-instrumentalist who writes, produces, engineers and mixes his own music for BEATHA Records. His songs are honest, personal and sometimes even playful. His influences are vast and as such he has adopted different styles on his albums.
Simon first began playing his own music in folk clubs as a teenager, developing his understanding of folk and blues. He then formed the band Steeltown who recorded an album with record producer Kevin Bacon (Finley Quaye/Pretenders/Longpigs). Simon returned to acoustic music, spent time in Nashville, playing at writers nights. Including the Bluebird Café. Simon worked again with Kevin Bacon & Johnathon Quarmby to record "Where Are You Tonight" for the movie soundtrack "Solo Shuttle". Although it wasn't included in the final cut, this song was also recorded by Irish artist Mundy. He then took a hiatus from the music industry and focussed on raising his children.
Simon released "I'm Back & I'm Funky" in 2022. Influenced by 70's funk and soul, this album was a response to his appalment of racism. Recorded during lockdown on a Tascam Portastudio.
Simon resumed his more usual style on "Till the Birds Sing" 2023, a blend of blues/soul/rock and country. The album deals with anxiety, hopelessness & loss, till the astounding beauty of a new day and a revelation of hope.
"Ti Amo" is a collection of love songs written about his wife Juliette, released on Valentines Day 2024. Mostly in a Latin style.
"The Everything" (2024) includes some of his most personal work, themed around life and mortality . "Eyes" is one of Simon's favourite compositions. This album is more folk influenced.
"Black River" explores deeper issues from his past and it's effects on the present. The song "Black River" was inspired by a cathartic dream about the loss of his mother. The album features Aaron James on "Everything I Need is all I Want". The song, "I Believe in love" is in memoriam of John Lennon, declaring his own ethos for life.
